FAIRBORN — Douglas (Doug) Scott Nies February 16, 1952 – April 15, 2014 passed away in Surprise Az. at 62 years of age. Doug was born in Dayton, Ohio and grew up in Fairborn, Ohio. Doug was a graduate of Fairborn High School (class of 1970) and Wright State University. Doug retired as a Technical Sargent USAF and was a Veteran of Operation Desert Shield/Storm. Doug was a long time employee of the Fairborn School System. Doug is predeceased by his parents Clyde and Betty (Hawthorne) Nies of Fairborn, Ohio and a niece Alison Nies of Phoenix, Az. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Dee (Devore) Nies Surprise, Az., Daughter Sarah L. Nies of Centerville, Ohio, son Scott A. Nies of Surprise, Az., brother Terry Nies (Joan) of Melbourne, Fl., nieces Kristen Nies Harper of Va. and Melissa Nies O'Neill of Fl. No Services are planned. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society .

So sorry to hear this. Doug was always a kind person, always on the edge between happy and content -- a good balance all around. "Only the good die young", and that means you, Doug.

I have known Doug since 1959,at Five Points. Then are paths crossed again in our junior high leel. Later on at Baker High School. In my opinion Doug was a true friend and a good buddy. I will miss you alot.
